Atacama plays host to many different landscapes. Contrary to being a terra nullius – it is textured with history and cultural meaning, where the living and the unborn, the deceased and the more-than-human are considered parts of the vernacular and spiritual landscape.

This short essay looks at the impact that lithium extraction is having on this unique environment and the livelihoods of the communities who inhabit it.
